چکیده

Background: Plants contain phytochemicals that are crucial to their growth and development. The potential health benefits of dietary including flavonoids, isoflavones other polyphenols. Polyphenolic substances, the largest class phytochemicals, act as strong antioxidants due abundance hydroxyl groups. Trigonella foenum-graceum also known Fenugreek is rich source therefore possess extraordinary healing medicinal properties. Methods: present study designed evaluate chief phytochemical constituents antioxidant capacity acetone extract dried foenum-graecum leaves (Variety HM 444). like total phenolic content by Folin-Ciocalteu method, flavonoids AlCl3 colorimetric assay, sugars method Dubois reducing Nelson modified Somogyi determined in leaves. using 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging assay phosphomolybdenum assay. Result: Various such (3.17 mg GAE/g), (1.34 CE/g), (32.35 mg/g), Reducing (0.53 mg/g) Non- (31.82 investigated activity evaluated reported an IC50 value 737.50 μg/mL. 28.21 AAE/g.

Screening the Antioxidant activity of Trigonella foenum graecum Seeds

This study was undertaken to examine the antioxidant activity of methanolic extract of seeds of Trigonella foenum-graecum seeds using DPPH free radical scavenging assay. The IC50 (The concentration of sample required to scavenge 50% of DPPH free radical) was calculated by plotting graph between % inhibition vs concentration. The Ascorbic acid was used as standard antioxidant in comparison to me...

In vitro studies on antiradical and antioxidant activities of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum) seeds

An extract of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum) seeds was isolated and evaluated for antioxidant activity using various in vitro assay systems. The seed extract exhibited scavenging of hydroxyl radicals ( OH) and inhibition of hydrogen peroxide-induced lipid peroxidation in rat liver mitochondria. The OH scavenging activity of the extract was evaluated by pulse radiolysis and the deoxyribos...

Effects of Saponin from Trigonella Foenum-Graecum Seeds on Dyslipidemia

Background Saponins identified from fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) seeds are reported effective on dyslipidemia. However, the definite mechanism is still not elucidated systematically. In this study, we evaluate the effects of saponin extract on cholesterol absorption, metabolism, synthesis, and reverse cholesterol transport in vivo. Methods Saponin extract was prepared according to a ...
