چکیده

Gram-negative bacteria were collected from different clinical labs situated in Karachi. Of these 83 isolates, 99% found resistant against one or more of the following antibiotics: ampicillin, co-amoxiclav, gentamycin, neomycin, streptomycin and tetracycline. Most isolates multi-drug (MDR) having resistance to three antibiotics at a time. For 4.8% Susceptible, 3.6% Intermediate while 91.5% Resistant. 1.2% 6% 92.7% gentamicin, 10.8% 86.7% 21.6% 40.9% 43.4% streptomycin, 18% 91.6% tetracycline, 15.7% 45.7% 53% The study confirmed presence multidrug indigenous gram-negative which is an alarming situation needs development effective alternative strategies for treatment infections.

Efficacy of Amikacin and Imipenem Against Multi-Drug Resistant Gram-Negative Bacteria Isolated From Wound Infections

Background and Objective: Gram-negative pathogens are considered the common cause of wound infections associated with increased mortality and morbidity rates. Antibiotics combination has been used to overcome this problem. Aims: In this study, we identify Gram-negative pathogens found in wound infections and assess the in-vitro efficacy of a combination of amikacin and imipenem against the resi...

An unusual class of anthracyclines potentiate Gram-positive antibiotics in intrinsically resistant Gram-negative bacteria.

OBJECTIVES An orthogonal approach taken towards novel antibacterial drug discovery involves the identification of small molecules that potentiate or enhance the activity of existing antibacterial agents. This study aimed to identify natural-product rifampicin adjuvants in the intrinsically resistant organism Escherichia coli. METHODS E. coli BW25113 was screened against 1120 actinomycete ferm...
