Estimation of Hydraulic Parameters from the Soil Water Characteristic Curve

چکیده

Soil water characteristic curve (SWCC) is one of the most essential hydraulic properties that play fundamental role in various environmental issues and management. SWCC gives important information for movement, soil behavior, infiltration, drainage mechanism, affecting circle aquifer recharge. Since world’s freshwater withdrawals go irrigation uses, decoding beneficial, as it affects saving through planning. Estimation crucial parameters, such field capacity (FC) permanent wilting point (PWP) key solution saving. Modelling parameters estimation are great importance, since laboratory experimental procedures experiments often time-consuming processes. In present study, along with FC PWP two types were obtained via specific laboratory. order to simulate estimate PWP, data approximated van Genuchten’s model. Results showed using excellent results, while method rationally overestimates PWP. Hence, presented leads can be used planning practices.

Equations for the soil-water characteristic curve

The soil-water characteristic curve can be used to estimate various parameters used to describe unsaturated soil behaviour. A general equation for the soil-water characteristic curve is proposed. A nonlinear, least-squares computer program is used to determine the best-fit parameters for experimental data presented in the literature. The equation is based on the assumption that the shape of the...

Estimation of Soil Hydraulic Properties Curve through Beerkan Infiltration Experiment Algorithms

Nowadays, the Beerkan computational algorithms (BESTslope and BESTsteday) are known as the suitable indirect methods for estimating soil saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks) and sorptivity (S), as well as the scale parameter (hg) in van Genuchten soil water retention equation through the data collected in the Beerkan infiltration experiment and other required data. The purpose of this study wa...

Estimating Relative Hydraulic Conductivity from the Water Release Characteristic of a Shrinking Clay Soil

To understand the hydraulic properties of soils, accurate prediction of unsaturated hydraulic conductivity is needed which is commonly derived from the soil water release characteristic. In fine-textured soils the modified Mualem-van Genuchten (MMVG) function has been used extensively to predict the change in relative conductivity with changes in matric potential, but this assumes that the soil...

Sensitivity Analysis of Hydraulic Parameters in the Simulation of Unsaturated Soil Water Dynamics

Soil water content is one of the most important parameters for estimating irrigation frequency and providing the plant’s water requirement. Since measurement of soil water content is both expensive and time consuming, water movement models are used to estimate these values. In this study, LEACHW model was used to estimate soil water content for two “dry” (20-29 Aug) and “wet” (1-6 Jul) periods ...
