Estimating the global risk of anthropogenic climate change

چکیده
The three recent Special Reports of the IPCC provide an opportunity to understand overarching climate risk, as they cover a wide diversity risks natural and human systems. Here we develop scoring system translate qualitative risk assessments into scores that, when aggregated, describe global from change. By end this century, will increase substantially with greenhouse gas emissions compared today (composite score two- fourfold under RCP2.6 RCP8.5, respectively). Comparison levels +1.5 °C +2 suggests that every additional 0.5 warming contribute higher globally (by about third). Societal adaptation has potential decrease half) all RCPs, but cannot fully prevent residual increasing one-third doubling today). Different frameworks, most notably expert IPCC, have been developed determine change over century. Estimated quantified show substantial in composite by 2100 for low high emissions.

Integrated Risk Analysis of Global Climate Change
This paper discusses several factors that should be considered m integrnted risk nnnlyses of global climate change. We begin by describing how the problem of global climate change cnn be subdivided into largely independent parts that can be linked together in nn onnlytioolly tractable fashion. Uncertainty ploys n central role in integrated risk onnlyses of global climate change. Accordingly, we...
متن کاملEcological Risk Assessment in the Context of Global Climate Change
Changes to sources, stressors, habitats, and geographic ranges; toxicological effects; end points; and uncertainty estimation require significant changes in the implementation of ecological risk assessment (ERA). Because of the lack of analog systems and circumstances in historically studied sites, there is a likelihood of type III error. As a first step, the authors propose a decision key to a...
متن کاملIs the Global Rise of Asthma an Early Impact of Anthropogenic Climate Change?
The increase in asthma incidence, prevalence, and morbidity over recent decades presents a significant challenge to public health. Pollen is an important trigger of some types of asthma, and both pollen quantity and season depend on climatic and meteorologic variables. Over the same period as the global rise in asthma, there have been considerable increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide concent...
متن کاملCoral reef ecosystems and anthropogenic climate change
Coral reef ecosystems are among the most biologically diverse ecosystems on the planet. In addition to their value in terms of biodiversity, coral reefs provide food and resources for over 500 million people. Despite their importance, coral reefs are declining at a rapid rate (1–2% per year) as a result of a range of local (e.g., overexploitation of fisheries, declining water quality) and globa...
