Estimating land surface temperature to study land use land cover influence on the temperature in a city with a dry arid climate

Abstract Turning arid regions or forests into urban areas (Urbanization) is affecting the global temperature. This effect intensifying due to uncontrolled growth. To understand influence of land use cover (LULC) on surface temperature (LST) in dry climate cities like Sharjah, UAE, 2 Landsat 8 images were used retrieve LST, one summer and winter by using radiation correction equation google earth engine. Supervised classification a high-resolution image from worldview-3 will produce LULC map. In addition, hourly ground data (GT) retrieved 6 field stations validate LST find correlation if it exists. The then compared different LULC, relationships between two. study showed that barren soil experienced highest when vegetation areas, lowest temperatures all other finally, urbanization was combined with green lands can have positive impact climates. proves understanding effects accurately aid greatly future planning cities.
