Estimating forest above?ground biomass with terrestrial laser scanning: Current status and future directions

چکیده
1 Improving the global monitoring of aboveground biomass (AGB) is crucial for forest management to be effective in climate mitigation. In last decade, methods have been developed estimating AGB from terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) data. TLS-derived estimates can address current uncertainties allometric and Earth observation (EO) that quantify AGB. 2 We assembled a dataset TLS scanned consecutively destructively measured trees variety conditions reconstruction pipelines. The comprised 391 111 species with stem diameter ranging 8.5 180.3 cm 13.5 – 43,950 kg. 3 closely agreed destructive values (bias < 1%, concordance correlation coefficient 98%). However, we identified below-average performances smaller (< 1,000 kg) conifers. every individual study, were less biased more accurate than those scaling models (ASMs), especially larger (> kg). 4 More effort should go further understanding constraining several error sources. currently lack an objective method evaluating point cloud quality tree volume reconstruction, hindering development algorithms presenting bottleneck tracking down sources our synthesis. Since quantifying requires only fraction efforts as compared harvesting, TLS-calibrated ASMs become powerful tool upscaling. will critical calibrating/validating scheduled launched remote sensing initiatives aiming at mapping.

Current Status and Future Directions
Myocardial deformation imaging is a novel echocardiographic method for assessment of global and regional myocardial function. As this technology has evolved, it has been applied to an increasing number of research questions, and the number of publications incorporating deformation imaging has grown in parallel. Although not yet sufficiently vetted for routine clinical use, these methods offer t...
متن کاملDescribing Forest Stands Using Terrestrial Laser-scanning
A method for extracting forest parameters is described in this paper. The 3D point clouds derived from phase difference laser scanners in forests were processed in a step-wise separation. The first step contains basic filter methods to reduce raw data which, separates isolated points or deletes those artefacts resulting from the ambiguity problem. The next step includes using algorithms to isol...
