Estimating Carbon Stocks and Biomass Expansion Factors of Urban Greening Trees Using Terrestrial Laser Scanning

نویسندگان

چکیده

Urban forest carbon sequestration represents an important component of the global pool; however, accurate measurements are limited by inability existing field stand models to match specificity urban greening species. Herein, canopy volume, stock, and biomass expansion factor (BEF) 30 Koelreuteria paniculate trees were measured based on terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) compared results wood volume stock model measurements. The findings revealed that (1) TLS point cloud data highly reproducible (root mean square error tree height diameter at breast ±0.35 m ±0.33 cm, respectively). (2) Owing human interference cluttered environments, BEF species fluctuated irregularly, considerably different from natural stands. (3) Leaf stocks influenced size voxel. (4) Different measurement factors maintained variable degrees influence (height under branch, thick crown width, projected areas tree-crown produced correlation coefficients −0.64, 0.54, 0.45, 0.43, Accordingly, can be accurately calculated via without damage.

Multi-temporal terrestrial laser scanning for modeling tree biomass change

Above ground biomass (AGB) is a crucial ecological variable and has to be accurately estimated to understand potential changes of the climate system and to reduce uncertainties in the estimates of forest carbon budget. The overall goal of this research is to estimate tree level AGB change using multi-temporal terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) datasets for trees in East Texas. Specific objectives...

Describing Forest Stands Using Terrestrial Laser-scanning

A method for extracting forest parameters is described in this paper. The 3D point clouds derived from phase difference laser scanners in forests were processed in a step-wise separation. The first step contains basic filter methods to reduce raw data which, separates isolated points or deletes those artefacts resulting from the ambiguity problem. The next step includes using algorithms to isol...

Estimating Crown Variables of Individual Trees Using Airborne and Terrestrial Laser Scanners

In this study, individual tree height (TH), crown base height (CBH), crown area (CA) and crown volume (CV), which were considered as essential parameters for individual stem volume and biomass estimation, were estimated by both an airborne laser scanner (ALS) and a terrestrial laser scanner (TLS). These ALSand TLS-derived tree parameters were compared because TLS has been introduced as an instr...

Assessing Metrics for Estimating Fire Induced Change in the Forest Understorey Structure Using Terrestrial Laser Scanning

Quantifying post-fire effects in a forested landscape is important to ascertain burn severity, ecosystem recovery and post-fire hazard assessments and mitigation planning. Reporting of such post-fire effects assumes significance in fire-prone countries such as USA, Australia, Spain, Greece and Portugal where prescribed burns are routinely carried out. This paper describes the use of Terrestrial...
