چکیده
Abstract Mathematical and computational decision models are powerful tools for studying choice behavior, hundreds of distinct have been proposed over the long interdisciplinary history making research. The existence so many has led to theoretical fragmentation redundancy, obscuring key insights into preventing consensus about essential properties preferential choice. We provide a synthesis formal risky, multiattribute, intertemporal choice, three important domains in making. identify recurring discovered by scholars different generations disciplines across these domains, use classify 150 existing as involving various combinations eight mathematical properties. These capture main avenues development research can be used understand similarities differences between models, aiding both analyses empirical tests.

The probabilistic nature of preferential choice.
Previous research has developed a variety of theories explaining when and why people's decisions under risk deviate from the standard economic view of expected utility maximization. These theories are limited in their predictive accuracy in that they do not explain the probabilistic nature of preferential choice, that is, why an individual makes different choices in nearly identical situations,...
متن کاملThe response dynamics of preferential choice.
The ubiquity of psychological process models requires an increased degree of sophistication in the methods and metrics that we use to evaluate them. We contribute to this venture by capitalizing on recent work in cognitive science analyzing response dynamics, which shows that the bearing information processing dynamics have on intended action is also revealed in the motor system. This decidedly...
متن کاملPreferential choice and coordination conditions
We present a process algebra with conditional expressions of which the conditions concern the enabledness of actions in the context in which a process is placed. With those conditions, it becomes easy to model preferential choices. A preferential choice of a process is a choice whereby certain alternatives are excluded if at least one of the other alternatives is permitted by the context in whi...
متن کاملHandout: Power Laws and Preferential Attachment
Empirical studies of real world networks revealed that degree distribution often follows a heavytailed distribution, a power law. At that time, there were two kinds of network models: the Erdos-Renyi random graph Gn,p and the Small World graphs of Watts and Strogatz. In both models the degrees were very close to the mean degree and there was little variation. Thus, there was the question of fin...
