ESBL producing <em>Escherichia coli</em> prevalence in chicken stools in selected broiler farms in Galle district

Introduction: Most of the animals reared for food are reservoirs Extended Spectrum Beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing coliforms. ESBL Escherichia coli (E. coli) in chicken meat increasing worldwide. Since consumption meals is higher compared to other livestock Sri Lanka, there a threat transmit these organisms humans via food. The aim this study was determine E. prevalence stools and presence antibacterial substances feed water selected broiler farms Galle district Methods: Eighty stool samples were collected from district. Isolates confirmed as on lactose fermentation, colony morphology, Gram staining biochemical tests. production detected according CLSI double disc diffusion method.
