Erosive Wear Behavior of Novel Hybrid Multicomponent Cast Alloys with Different C and B Contents

Multicomponent and high-boron cast alloys have been recognized as materials with excellent wear resistance due to the formation of hard phases called carbides borides. However, performance combination these two hybrid multicomponent (HMCAs) has not comprehensively studied. Therefore, this study will evaluate effect C (0–0.9 wt.%) B (1.5–3.5 addition on erosion behavior an HMCA containing 2.5 wt.% Ti, 10 Cr, 5 each V, Mo, W. Shot-blast testing was used alloy. The test conducted for 3600 s using 2 kg irregularly shaped steel sand a scraper at impact angles 30°, 60°, 90°. results showed that highest rate in 0C 0.45C 1.5–3.5% occurred angle 60° gouging indentation mechanisms occurring simultaneously. different case 0.9C same amount where increased increasing brittleness. Based chemical composition, alloy content higher hardness values. reverse when exceeded threshold (more than 1.5 despite hardness. This fact susceptibility carbide cracking increased. best 0.9C–1.5B HMCA.
