Equivalent Static Wind Load for Structures with Inerter-Based Vibration Absorbers

Equivalent Static Wind Loads (ESWL) are desired in structural design to consider peak dynamic wind effects. Conventional ESWLs for structures without control. For flexible with vibration control devices, the investigation of ESWL is required. Inerter-based Vibration Absorbers (IVAs), due light weight and high performance, gained much research attention recently. This paper established a generic analytical framework IVAs. The optimal formulas IVAs different configurations installation locations provided. Subsequently, solutions uncontrolled controlled wind-induced responses derived based on filter approach. Finally, presented gust response factor estimation tall chimney by illustrated, results revealed significant reduction effect IVAs, particularly cross-wind vortex resonance.
