Energy decay for Maxwells equations with Ohms law in partially cubic domains
We prove a polynomial energy decay for the Maxwells equations with Ohms law in partially cubic domains with trapped rays. We extend the results of polynomial decay for the scalar damped wave equation in partially rectangular or cubic domain. Our approach have some similitude with the construction of reected gaussian beams. Keywords .Maxwells equations; decay estimates; trapped ray. 1 Introd...
متن کاملEquipartition of energy in wave motion
Of concern are solutions of the classical wave equation in three-dimensions. It is shown that if a solution has compact support then after a finite time the kinetic energy of the wave is constant and equals the potential energy. The proof employs the Paley-Wiener theorem of Fourier analysis. Prepared under Research Grant DA AROD 31-124-G68O Army Research Office, Durham, North Carolina.
متن کاملOn Equipartition of Energy and Integrals of Generalized Langevin Equations with Generalized Rouse Kernel
We show that if the motion of a particle in a linear viscoelastic liquid is described by a Generalized Langevin Equation with generalized Rouse kernel, then the resulting velocity process satisfies equipartition of energy. In doing so, we present a closed formula for the improper integration along the positive line of the product of a rational polynomial function and of even powers of the sinc ...
متن کاملEquipartition of Energy in Geometric Scattering Theory
In this note, we use an elementary argument to show that the existence and unitarity of radiation fields implies asymptotic partition of energy for the corresponding wave equation. This argument establishes the equipartition of energy for the wave equation on scattering manifolds, asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds, asymptotically complex hyperbolic manifolds, and the Schwarzschild spacetime. ...
متن کاملThermodynamic Equipartition and Energy Efficient Membrane Networks*
This paper considers the relative merits of three optimization objective functions for the design of an energy efficient pervaporation membrane network for ethanol dehydration: the minimization of the standard deviation of the thermodynamic driving force, of the entropy generation, and of the power of separation. The resulting designs are compared with those of a standard numerical optimization...
