Epidemiologic changes in bloodstream infections in Andalucía (Spain) during the last decade

ObjectivesDuring the last decade, some changes in epidemiology of invasive infections have been reported; however, specific studies with patient-level data are scarce. The aim this study was to describe and evaluate epidemiologic bloodstream (BSI) during decade Andalucía, Spain.MethodsData from two prospective cohorts BSI adults same methodology performed 10 years apart 11 hospitals (eight tertiary three community) Spain, were compared; 2006–7 cohort between October 2006 March 2007, 2016–17 2016 2017. Population-based incidence rates calculated extrapolated for 1 year. Relative risk ratios 2 periods. Multivariate analyses by logistic regression.ResultsOverall, 1262 episodes included, 563 (44.6%) 699 (55.3%) 2016–17. models selected following patients' features 2016–17, after controlling type acquisition: higher age (odds ratio (OR) = 1.02; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.01–1.03), lower urinary catheter (OR 0.37; CI, 0.26–0.48) Pitt score 0.76; 0.71–0.82). Adjusted estimations considering exposure procedures showed a reduction coagulase-negative staphylococci 0.47; 0.32–0.69), an increase Proteus spp. 3.12; 1.18–8.23) Candida 3.01; 1.03–8.86).ConclusionsWe found relevant our area, including rates, frequency acquisition types, patient's profiles aetiologic agents.
