Eosinophilic granuloma with Splendore-Hoeppli material caused by Mannheimia granulomatis in a calf
A large subcutaneous mass, formed on the left lower jaw of a 4-month-old Japanese Black male calf, was partially excised for histological and bacteriological examinations. Antibiotic treatment resulted in a good prognosis. Bacteria isolated from the excised material were characterized by weak hemolysis and positive reactions for catalase and oxidase, and were 99% identical to Mannheimia granulo...
متن کاملEosinophilic Granuloma with Splendore-Hoeppli Material Caused by Toxigenic Corynebacterium ulcerans in a Heifer
Raised lesions were present on the left nasal vestibule of a 20-month-old Japanese Brown heifer. The largest mass which caused partial nasal obstruction was removed surgically. Corynebacterium ulcerans was identified in the mass. 16S ribosomal RNA and RNA polymerase beta subunit genes were 100% and 98% identical to other C. ulcerans strains. Histologically, multiple foci of eosinophilic granulo...
متن کاملEosinophilic gastroenteritis with Splendore-Hoeppli material in the ferret (Mustela putorius furo).
Eosinophilic gastroenteritis, focal or diffuse with eosinophilic infiltrations of the stomach or intestine, has been described in human beings, cats, dogs, and horses. In this paper, we describe infiltration of the gastrointestinal tract with eosinophils accompanied by a circulating eosinophilia in six ferrets (Mustela putorius furo). Clinical signs included chronic weight loss, anorexia, and d...

A 68 year old diabetic man developed septicaemia and multiple liver abscesses due to Streptococcus intermedius. Liver biopsy revealed streptococcal botryomycosis which showed the Splendore-Hoeppli phenomenon. Diabetes mellitus is an example of the immunosuppressed states that have been associated with botryomycosis.
متن کاملgranulomatosis . phenomenon in bronchocentric Splendore - Hoeppli
The formation of eosinophilic radiate structures around fungi, helminth ova, and certain bacteria is most commonly called the Splendore-Hoeppli phenomenon. It has been sporadically described since the early twentieth century, mainly in the veterinary fields.'-3 We report a striking example of this rare phenomenon in a human lung in which granulomatous fungal infection was noted. The bronchocent...
