چکیده
Abstract Background In view of the natural resistance hemicelluloses in lignocellulosic biomass on bioconversion cellulose into fermentable sugars, alkali extraction is considered as an effective method for gradually fractionating and increasing efficiency cellulose. present study, sequential alkaline extractions were performed delignified ryegrass material to achieve high comprehensively investigated structural features hemicellulosic fractions further applications. Results Sequential removed from cellulose-rich substrates degraded part amorphous cellulose, reducing yields 73.0 27.7% crystallinity indexes 31.7 41.0%. Alkaline enhanced by removal swelling enzymatic hydrolysis 72.3 95.3%. addition, fractionated six fractions, containing arabinoxylans main polysaccharides β -glucans. Simultaneously, concentration polysaccharides, which resulted a decreasing their molecular weights 67,510 50,720 g/mol. Conclusions The study demonstrated that conditions had significant effects investigation physicochemical properties hemicellulose. Overall, will provide useful information efficient utilization biorefineries.

Hydrolysis of Cellulose and Hemicellulose
Cellulosic biomass includes agricultural (e.g., corn stover and sugarcane bagasse) and forestry (e.g., sawdust, thinnings, andmill wastes) residues, portions ofmunicipal solid waste (e.g., waste paper), and herbaceous (e.g., switchgrass) and woody (e.g., poplar trees) crops. Such materials are abundant and competitive in price with petroleum, and cellulosic biomass can provide a sustainable res...
متن کاملEnhancing Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Cellulose by Ultrasonic Pretreatment
Slurries of rice-straw cellulose (obtained by delignification and removal of hemicelluloses from the powdered raw material) were subjected to ultrasonic waves at different intensities for various times (constant temperature). Susceptibility of the samples to cellulose-hydrolysis increased initially with pretreatment time, reaching a maximum or a constant level thereafter. Maximum glucose yi...

The effects of cellulose crystallinity, hemicellulose, and lignin on the enzymatic hydrolysis of Miscanthus sinensis to monosaccharides were investigated. A air-dried biomass was ground by ball-milling, and the powder was separated into four fractions by passage through a series of sieves with mesh sizes 250-355 microm, 150-250 microm, 63-150 microm, and <63 microm. Each fraction was hydrolyzed...
متن کاملOn-farm Pretreatment Technologies for Improving Enzymatic Degradability of Cellulose and Hemicellulose Present in Perennial Grass
This research investigated the ability of on-farm pretreatments with acid, alkali, ozone or novel enzymes to improve enzymatic degradability of cellulose and hemicelluloses in biomass at the biorefinery. Two perennial grasses, switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) and reed canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea L.), were direct-cut harvested, pretreated, and stored anaerobically for 30 d. Pretreated and un...
متن کاملCellulose and hemicellulose decomposition by forest soil bacteria proceeds by the action of structurally variable enzymatic systems.
Evidence shows that bacteria contribute actively to the decomposition of cellulose and hemicellulose in forest soil; however, their role in this process is still unclear. Here we performed the screening and identification of bacteria showing potential cellulolytic activity from litter and organic soil of a temperate oak forest. The genomes of three cellulolytic isolates previously described as ...
