Environmental Risk Assessment of Wetland Ecosystems Using Bayesian Belief Networks

چکیده

Wetlands are valuable natural capital and sensitive ecosystems facing significant risks from anthropogenic climatic stressors. An assessment of the environmental risk levels for wetlands’ dynamic can provide a better understanding their current ecosystem health functions. Project Portfolio Risk Response Selection Using Bayesian Belief Networks

Risk identification, impact assessment, and response planning constitute three building blocks of project risk management. Correspondingly, three types of interactions could be envisioned between risks, between impacts of several risks on a portfolio component, and between several responses. While the interdependency of risks is a well-recognized issue, the other two types of interactions remai...

Health Risk Assessment for Sewer Workers using Bayesian Belief Networks

The sanitary sewerage connection rate becomes an important indicator of advanced cities. Following the construction of sanitary sewerages, the maintenance and management systems are required for keeping pipelines and facilities functioning well. These maintenance tasks often require sewer workers to enter the manholes and the pipelines, which are confined spaces short of natural ventilation and...

Situation Assessment via Bayesian Belief Networks

We present here an approach to battlefield situation assessment based on a level 2 fusion processing of incoming information via probabilistic Bayesian Belief Network technology. A belief network (BN) can be thought of as a graphical program script representing causal relationships among various battlefield concepts represented as nodes to which observed significant events are posted as evidenc...

Natural hazards risk assessment using Bayesian networks

The objective of the present paper is the demonstration of the potential and advantages of Bayesian networks for the application in risk assessments for natural hazards. For this purpose, a general framework for natural hazards risk assessment is presented and a brief introduction to Bayesian networks is provided. The methodology is then applied to rating systems for assessing rock-fall hazard ...

Coupling Bayesian networks and geospatial software for environmental risk assessment

The Gulf of Finland, the easternmost part of the Baltic Sea, is a fairly narrow and shallow gulf that has witnessed a significant increase in maritime traffic, especially in oil transportation in the last years. While several measures have been taken to improve the safety of sea traffic in the area, a risk of a major oil spill accident exists. Although oil spills can be combated at sea at least...
