چکیده
Abstract The fractionation of 10 metals (As, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Se, V, and Zn) within labile fractions in shallow marine sediments collected from the coasts Sabah Sarawak, Malaysia, was evaluated. Spatial distribution revealed that coastal were approximately 10% higher metal content than Sarawak. Risk assessment code, enrichment factor, pollution accumulation index calculations used to investigate environmental hazards elements. For risk modified Tessier sequential extraction procedure applied. code values showed V recorded lowest environment (~ 10%) while As, Zn exhibited medium (Risk range 11%–30%). element Ni displayed no (0.67%) environment, whereas Se Pb highest with 47% 52%, respectively. factor calculation, continental crust data presented by Taylor (Taylor, Geochim Cosmochim Acta 28:1273–1285, 1964) as background, Al a reference element. Results illustrated most show (enrichment > 1). However, considered extremely severe 50). While calculation demonstrated all under study can be non-contaminant elements except for Co. These findings indicated are more polluted contaminants despite both states having numerous active oil- gas-related production facilities.

Geochemical and environmental assessment of heavy metals in soils and sediments of Forumad Chromite mine, NE of Iran
Heavy metal concentration in the soils and sediments has increased worldwide during the last century due to the mining, smelting, and industrial activities. The Forumad chromite deposit is located in the Sabzevar ophiolitic complex (SOC), with a long history of mining activities, yet very little is known about the heavy metal contamination in its surrounding environment. In this research work, ...
متن کاملAssessment of Ecological Hazard of Heavy Metals (Cr, Zn, Cu, Pb) in Surface Sediments of The Bashar River, Yasouj, Iran
Background & Aims of the Study: Heavy metals pollution in aquatic ecosystems threats living organisms' health and environment. Hence, the present study aims to assess concentration of lead, chromium, copper, zinc and their ecological risk in the surface sediments of the Bashar River during the summer and winter seasons. Materials & Methods: This is a field study; sampling of...
متن کاملSexually transmitted diseases in Sabah and Sarawak.
Despite being part of one of the few remaining primitive areas of the world, both Sabah and Sarawak are provided with adequate, though simple, urban and rural general medical services. At present no reliable data on the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases in these areas have been collected and no organised treatment services are available. Gonorrhoea appears to be the commonest notifiabl...
