Environmental Forest Fire Danger Rating Systems and Indices around the Globe: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
The objective of the present review is to analyze and evaluate most used well-performing environmental forest fire danger rating systems indices globally, aiming creation an integrated system for Greece. analysis emphasizes core input parameters that have been associated with (i.e., weather, vegetation, topography, hydrology) computational procedure each index as well categorization output values. Online search engines such Scopus, Google Scholar, WorldWideScience, ScienceDirect, ResearchGate were in relevant literature published scientific journals, manuals, reports. retrieved studies classified reviewed. Studies selected analytically describing calculation process related ignition not being strictly geographically bound. A total 210 included current review, 63 indices. These analyzed evaluated based on a scoring system. Overall, top-rated the: Nesterov’s index, Sharples’ Keetch Byram’s drought Telicyn logarithmic, vapor pressure deficit, 3rd 4th also proved be accurate fire-prone regions. Remote sensing promising estimation.

BacKground A number of fire danger rating systems, which integrate selected quantifiable factors contributing to fire danger, have been developed to provide numerical indices relating to fire protection needs. it is important to note that fire danger indices have no real physical manifestation – they are just indices. Calculation of fire danger indices generally rely on information relating to ...
متن کاملA simple index for assessing fire danger rating
Fire danger rating systems are used to assess the potential for bushfire occurrence, fire spread and difficulty of fire suppression. Typically, fire danger rating systems combine meteorological information with estimates of the moisture content of the fuel to produce a fire danger index. Fire danger indices are used to declare fire bans and to schedule prescribed burns, among other applications...
متن کاملA comparison of fire danger rating systems for use in forests
Fire danger is the resultant of ‘factors affecting the inception, spread and difficulty of control of fires and the damage they cause’ (Chandler et al. 1983). If any of these factors are absent, then there is no fire danger (Cheney and Gould 1995). Fire danger rating is ‘a fire management system that integrates the facets of selected fire danger factors into one or more qualitative or numerical...
