Environmental DNA provides higher resolution assessment of riverine biodiversity and ecosystem function via spatio-temporal nestedness and turnover partitioning

چکیده

Abstract Rapidly assessing biodiversity is essential for environmental monitoring; however, traditional approaches are limited in the scope needed most ecological systems. Environmental DNA (eDNA) based assessment offers enhanced biodiversity, while also increasing sampling efficiency and reducing processing time, compared to methods. Here we investigated effects of landuse seasonality on headwater community richness functional diversity, via spatio-temporal dynamics, using both eDNA sampling. We found that provided greater resolution dynamics time space, Community was seasonally linked, peaking spring summer, with temporal turnover having a effect composition localized nestedness. Overall, our ecosystem function shows formation driven by regional resource availability, implying management requirements should be considered. Our findings show powerful, rapid effective strategy enables complex studies diversity function, previously infeasible

Evaluation of Tests for Separability and Symmetry of Spatio-temporal Covariance Function

In recent years, some investigations have been carried out to examine the assumptions like stationarity, symmetry and separability of spatio-temporal covariance function which would considerably simplify fitting a valid covariance model to the data by parametric and nonparametric methods. In this article, assuming a Gaussian random field, we consider the likelihood ratio separability test, a va...

Plant ecology. Anthropogenic environmental changes affect ecosystem stability via biodiversity.

Human-driven environmental changes may simultaneously affect the biodiversity, productivity, and stability of Earth's ecosystems, but there is no consensus on the causal relationships linking these variables. Data from 12 multiyear experiments that manipulate important anthropogenic drivers, including plant diversity, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, fire, herbivory, and water, show that each driver i...

patterns and variations in native and non-native interlanguage pragmatic rating: effects of rater training, intercultural proficiency, and self-assessment

although there are studies on pragmatic assessment, to date, literature has been almost silent about native and non-native english raters’ criteria for the assessment of efl learners’ pragmatic performance. focusing on this topic, this study pursued four purposes. the first one was to find criteria for rating the speech acts of apology and refusal in l2 by native and non-native english teachers...

assessment of deep word knowledge in elementary and advanced iranian efl learners: a comparison of selective and productive wat tasks

testing plays a vital role in any language teaching program. it allows teachers and stakeholders, including program administrators, parents, admissions officers and prospective employers to be assured that the learners are progressing according to an accepted standard (douglas, 2010). the problems currently facing language testers have both practical and theoretical implications but the first i...
