Environmental determinants of minimum body temperature in mammals

چکیده
Physiological regulation of body temperature, set at a high level, is one the key features endothermic homeotherms, such as birds and mammals. However, many mammals some have evolved ability for temporal down-regulation core temperature. We investigated how variation in environment temperature habitat primary productivity determine daily among mammalian species. Nearly half minimum species was explained by both environmental Mammals expressing low inhabited regions annual with wide seasonal variation. Simultaneously, those were characterized seasonality productivity. Furthermore, level among-year but not productivity, only adapted to relatively humid conditions. Our results suggest that heterothermy can be selectively advantageous circumstances when energetic demands maintaining homeothermy, physiological stable cannot supported. The corroborate hypothesis may higher chances surviving extinction events caused climatic changes. Therefore, adaptation contemporary represents mechanism ongoing global warming.

Body temperature predicts maximum microsatellite length in mammals.
A long-standing mystery in genome evolution is why short tandem repeats vary so much in length and frequency. Here, we test the hypothesis that body temperature acts to influence the rate and nature of slippage-based mutations. Using the data from both 28 species where genome sequencing is advanced and 76 species from which marker loci have been published, we show that in mammals, maximum repea...

Mammalian torpor saves enormous amounts of energy, but a widely assumed cost of torpor is immobility and therefore vulnerability to predators. Contrary to this assumption, some small marsupial mammals in the wild move while torpid at low body temperatures to basking sites, thereby minimizing energy expenditure during arousal. Hence, we quantified how mammalian locomotor performance is affected ...
متن کاملDiet and body temperature in mammals and birds
Aim We test the hypothesis that endotherm body temperature varies with diet. Location Global terrestrial ecosystems Methods We compile data from the literature on diet and body temperature in mammals and birds. We analyse these and demonstrate global macrophysiological patterns. Results In mammals, carnivores overall have a lower mean body temperature (Tb) than either herbivores or omnivores. H...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Telomere length and body temperature—independent determinants of mammalian longevity?
WHY DO SPECIES DIFFER IN LIFESPAN AND WHAT ARE THE DETERMINANTS OF THEIR LONGEVITY? Understanding the main factors that determine variation in species longevity may provide a clue into the leading mechanisms of aging and—what is even more important—outline the key targets for longevity-promoting interventions. Comparative studies on longevity in mammals revealed numerous variables that correlat...
