Entropic stochastic resonance induced by a transverse driving force

چکیده

The phenomenon of entropic stochastic resonance (ESR) is investigated with the presence a time-periodic force in transverse direction. Simulation results manifest that ESR can survive even if there no static bias any direction, just driving field applied. In weak noise region, leads to giant-suppression escape rate from one well another, i.e. trapping. increase intensity will eliminate this suppression and induce phenomenon. An alternative quantity, called mean free flying time, also proposed characterize as conventional spectral power amplification. be modulated conveniently by periodic force, which implies an method for controlling dynamics small-scale systems. Entropic stochastic resonance.

We present a novel scheme for the appearance of stochastic resonance when the dynamics of a Brownian particle takes place in a confined medium. The presence of uneven boundaries, giving rise to an entropic contribution to the potential, may upon application of a periodic driving force result in an increase of the spectral amplification at an optimum value of the ambient noise level. The entropi...

Double entropic stochastic resonance

We demonstrate the appearance of a purely entropic stochastic resonance (ESR) occurring in a geometrically confined system, where the irregular boundaries cause entropic barriers. The interplay between a periodic input signal, a constant bias and intrinsic thermal noise leads to a resonant ESR phenomenon in which feeble signals become amplified. This new phenomenon is characterized by the prese...

Stochastic resonance with weak monochromatic driving: gains above unity induced by high-frequency signals

We study the effects of a high-frequency (HF) signal on the response of a noisy bistable system to a low-frequency subthreshold sinusoidal signal. We show that, by conveniently choosing the ratio of the amplitude of the HF signal to its frequency, stochastic resonance gains greater than unity can be measured at the low-frequency value. Thus, the addition of the HF signal can entail an improveme...

Entropic stochastic resonance: the constructive role of the unevenness

We demonstrate the existence of stochastic resonance (SR) in confined systems arising from entropy variations associated to the presence of irregular boundaries. When the motion of a Brownian particle is constrained to a region with uneven boundaries, the presence of a periodic input may give rise to a peak in the spectral amplification factor and therefore to the appearance of the SR phenomeno...

Is Gravity Entropic Force?

If we assume that the source of thermodynamic system, ρ and p, are also the source of gravity, then either thermal quantities, such as entropy, temperature, and chemical potential, can induce gravitational effects, or gravity can induce thermal effects. We find that gravity can be seen as entropic force only for systems with constant temperature and zero chemical potential. The case for Newtoni...
