چکیده
Agriculture waste such as sugarcane bagasse (SCB) is composed mostly of cellulose, a very versatile natural biopolymer with well-established applications in many industries. The purpose this study was to use combination treatment methods which include alkaline and mild acid hydrolysis assisted ultrasonication extract cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) from bagasse. Initially, the SCB fibers were treated sodium hydroxide aqueous hydrogen peroxide, bleaching agent before subjected followed by at 70% amplitude defibrillate disperse fibers. focused on using sulfuric extracted SCB. FESEM images isolated CNFs exhibited diameter range 20–30 nm length up several micrometers. This observation suggests that combined are highly effective isolating plant biomass. Moreover, XRD analysis reveals presence peaks 2θ 15.2° 22°, indicating type I crystallinity 42%. Meanwhile, FTIR spectra prove individual CNF successfully due removal non-cellulosic constituents. result verifies amorphous portions lignin hemicellulose completely removed. long entangled network fibrils through ultrasonication. expected have high strength aspect ratio can be used reinforced material manufacturing nanocomposites.

Acid hydrolysis of sugarcane bagasse for lactic acid production.
In order to use sugarcane bagasse as a substrate for lactic acid production, optimum conditions for acid hydrolysis of the bagasse were investigated. After lignin extraction, the conditions were varied in terms of hydrochloric (HCl) or sulfuric (H(2)SO(4)) concentration (0.5-5%, v/v), reaction time (1-5h) and incubation temperature (90-120 degrees C). The maximum catalytic efficiency (E) was 10...
متن کاملIncreased enzymatic hydrolysis of sugarcane bagasse from enzyme recycling
BACKGROUND Development of efficient methods for production of renewable fuels from lignocellulosic biomass is necessary to maximize yields and reduce operating costs. One of the main challenges to industrial application of the lignocellulosic conversion process is the high costs of cellulolytic enzymes. Recycling of enzymes may present a potential solution to alleviate this problem. In the pres...
متن کاملChirality-specific hydrolysis of amino acid substrates by cellulose nanofibers.
We demonstrate for the first time that cellulose nanofibers obtained from natural sources have the capability to hydrolyze the amide bonds of amino acid substrates in a chirality-specific manner. The chiral specificities were clearly correlated with the species of amino acid units and the crystal structures of cellulose.
متن کاملSugarcane bagasse delignification with potassium hydroxide for enhanced enzymatic hydrolysis
The optimization of an alkaline pretreatment process for the delignification of sugarcane bagasse (SCB) to enhance the subsequent enzymatic hydrolysis was performed according to the Doehlert uniform shell design. In this experimental design, the effect of two factors—potassium hydroxide (KOH) concentration and autoclaving time at 121 C (1 atm)—on cellulose, hemicellulose, or the total polysacch...
متن کاملNanocrystalline Cellulose Prepared from Softwood Kraft Pulp via Ultrasonic-assisted Acid Hydrolysis
Nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) with small particle size and high crystallinity was prepared via the combined method of ultrasonication and acid hydrolysis from bleached softwood kraft pulp (BSKP). Scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used for determination of morphology, crystal structure, and ...
