Enrichment of rare earth elements from contaminated biomass prior to extraction

چکیده

Under the context of reserve depletion, recovering rare earth elements (REEs) from secondary resources is essential which assists to strengthen circular economy. Contaminated biomass growing brownfield lands a potential material for REE recovery. However, prior extraction stage, polluted plants need be lessened manageable volume. In this study, contaminated gathered an abandoned mining area was combusted in pilot-scale boiler, while solid residuals different positions burning system were collected and analyzed. Higher concentration ash samples compared that woody indicates efficiency combustion process metal enrichment point view. The significant remains advantage following step reclaim REEs. It concluded REEs bottom greater than other residuals. That volatility minerals limited during incineration.

On the Extraction of Rare Earth Elements from Geothermal Brines

The availability of rare earth elements from primary resources has come into question in the last two decades. This has sparked various government and industry initiatives to examine potential rare earth element resources apart from virgin ore bodies. Geothermal fluids are potentially significant sources of valuable minerals and metals, while co-recovery with geothermal energy production would ...

Rare Earth Elements Profile

Definitions and characteristics The rare earth elements (REE) (sometimes referred to as the rare earth metals) are a group of 17 chemically similar metallic elements, including the 15 lanthanides, scandium and yttrium. The lanthanides are elements spanning atomic numbers 57 (lanthanum, La) to 71 (lutetium, Lu) (Table 1). The lanthanides all occur in nature, although promethium, the rarest, only...

Mechanical activation of phosphate concentrates to enhance dissolution efficiency of rare earth elements from a kinetic viewpoint

The Esfordi phosphate concentrate mainly contains fluorapatite, monazite, and xenotime as rare earth element (REE) minerals, accounting for 1.5% of rare earth metals. The monazite and xenotime minerals are refractory and their decomposition is only possible at high temperatures. Thus mechanical activation was used in the present work for this purpose. After 90 minutes of mechanical activation, ...

Bioleaching of rare earth elements from monazite sand.

Three fungal strains were found to be capable of bioleaching rare earth elements from monazite, a rare earth phosphate mineral, utilizing the monazite as a phosphate source and releasing rare earth cations into solution. These organisms include one known phosphate solubilizing fungus, Aspergillus niger ATCC 1015, as well as two newly isolated fungi: an Aspergillus terreus strain ML3-1 and a Pae...

Biosorption of Uranium and Rare Earth Elements Using Biomass of Algae

In order to investigate the behavior of rare earth elements (REEs) and uranium (U) in marine organism, the concentrations of REEs and U in some brown algae samples taken on the coast of Niigata Prefecture were determined. In addition, laboratory model experiment to uptake these elements using living and dried algae (Undaria pinnatifida and Sargassum hemiphyllum) was also carried out to survey t...
