Enriching Socio-Technical Sustainability Intelligence through Sharing Autonomy

چکیده
We suggest to extend scientific research on sustainability beyond its focus interactions between natural and social systems socio-technical the ways in which those affect challenge of sustainability. In increasingly digitalized settings, intelligence becomes critical for human-centered development societies worldwide, including achievement future organizational success. Human-centered enablers, such as self-awareness, global perspective, societal consciousness, lay foundation reflective practice highly dynamic ecosystems that are backed by Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). Socio-technical requires frameworks architectures support active stakeholder engagement throughout design engineering. this contribution, we propose sharing autonomy inherent feature sustainable system operation. introduce an architecture mechanism building handling part intelligence. exemplify both with a system-relevant logistics use case illustrate enrichment CPS-based environments through participation.

Socio-technical Systems Theory and Environmental Sustainability
This paper argues for the relevance and utility of socio-technical systems theory for designing solutions to the challenges we face from climate change and managing the impact of human activity on the environment. Socio-technical systems theory defines systems as a collection of messy, complex, problem-solving components. This paper identifies two elements of sociotechnical systems theory most ...
متن کاملMeta-design: Transforming and Enriching the Design and Use of Socio-technical Systems
The meta-design of socio-technical systems (STS) is an approach which complies with the need of integrating two different types of structures and processes: technical systems which are engineered to provide anticipatable and reliable interactions between users and systems, and social systems which are contingent in their interactions and a subject of evolution. Meta-design is focused on objecti...
متن کاملIntelligence ≠ Autonomy ≠ Capability
In recent years, there has been a tendency to confuse the terms Intelligence, Autonomy, and Capability. In this paper we present the viewpoint that intelligence and capability are independent. These two factors describe an orthogonal design space that places upper bounds on the autonomy of the intelligent system. This design space for intelligent systems is illustrated by describing existing in...
متن کاملEngineering Context Aware Socio-Technical Systems through Capabilities
In the approach traditionally followed by engineering methods, systems are a product of a development process that starts with a requirements gathering and analysis process, and as such, the final product is expected to be in accordance with agreed requirements. However, reality is often different and more complex, involving sometimes the adoption and integration of off-the-shelf solutions into...
متن کاملSustainability and Technical Progress
A rigorous model connects together the following three basic concepts: (1) "sustainability" meaning the generalized future power of an economy to consume over time; (2) "Green NNP" meaning a current measure of national income that subtracts off from GNP not just depreciation of capital but also, more generally, depletion of environmental assets evaluated at current efficiency prices; (3) "techn...
