Enhancement of Polyphenols Recovery from Rosa canina, Calendula officinalis and Castanea sativa Using Pulsed Electric Field

The current study evaluates the Pulsed Electric Field (PEF) technique for extraction of polyphenols from plants Rosa canina, Calendulaofficinalis and Castanea sativa. These are traditionally used both preparation therapeutic decoctions aromatization beverages (alcoholic or not). Pulses 10 ?s duration were to apply electric field intensities ranging 1.2 2.0 kV cm?1. period phenomenon was set 1 ms, with a total time 20 min. polyphenol content as well identified polyphenolic compounds extracts determined monitoring evaluation. To estimate PEF effect, control prepared using same process but without application field. For all three plant materials studied, appeared be successful in increasing extraction. moderate high field, up 1.4 cm?1, resulted increased individual recovery, reaching 63.79% 84%, respectively, case canina fruits.
