چکیده
The control of vibrations and damage in traditional reinforced concrete (RC) buildings under earthquakes is a difficult task. It requires the use innovative devices to enhance seismic behavior buildings. In this paper, we design RC with buckling restrained braces (BRBs) achieve objective. For aim, three framed structures 3, 6, 9 story levels are designed by using well-known technique nondominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) order reduce cost maximize performance. Then, equivalent but including braces. Both structural systems subjected several narrow-band ground motions recorded at soft soil sites Mexico City scaled different intensities terms spectral acceleration first mode vibration structure Sa(T1). incremental dynamic analysis, fragility, reliability maximum interstory drift computed for all selected models BRBs, it concluded that annual rate exceedance considerably reduced when BRBs incorporated. reason, has better comparison good option improve strength hence strong earthquake motions.

Application Procedure for Optimized Placement of Buckling Restrained Braces in Reinforced Concrete Building Structures
Abstract—The optimal design procedure of buckling restrained braces (BRBs) in reinforced concrete (RC) building structures can provide the distribution of horizontal stiffness of BRBs at each story, which minimizes story drift response of the structure under the constraint of specified total stiffness of BRBs. In this paper, a simple rule is proposed to convert continuous horizontal stiffness o...

In recent years, seismic design of structures has been undergoing significant changes due to increasing demand for optimization and minimizing the level of damage and reducing the cost of structural repairs. Development of analytical methods and remarkable improvements of computer performance have been among the factors which influenced the design of structures. A lot of research has been condu...
متن کاملProbabilistic assessment of the seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings
The main objective of this article is to assess the expected seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings from a probabilistic point of view by using Monte Carlo simulation. To do that, the seismic behavior of the building is studied by using random capacity obtained by considering the mechanical properties of the materials as random variables. Starting from the capacity curves, one can obta...
متن کاملThermal Behavior of Cylindrical Buckling Restrained Braces at Elevated Temperatures
The primary focus of this investigation was to analyze sequentially coupled nonlinear thermal stress, using a three-dimensional model. It was meant to shed light on the behavior of Buckling Restraint Brace (BRB) elements with circular cross section, at elevated temperature. Such bracing systems were comprised of a cylindrical steel core encased in a strong concrete-filled steel hollow casing. A...
