Enhanced Mechanical and Durability Performances of Low Cement Concrete with Natural Pozzolan Addition

The decarbonization of concrete structures sector is a priority due to the world climate. Since Portland cement responsible for approximately 7% anthropogenic emissions worldwide, it decisive partially replace by products with lower environmental impact. Fly ash has become highly demanded, its proven advantages, however, announced end developed countries. purpose this research develop and characterize low (LCC) natural ecological pozzolan additions as an alternative fly ash. main objectives are: define several structural mixtures dosage, ranging from 125 175 kg/m3; workability mechanical properties, beyond durability performance those concretes; study influence pozzolans on LCC performance, ash; assess service life produced LCC. It possible produce additions, instead ash, improved properties enhanced performances. Results also show that Cape Verde provide great protection against steel corrosion, achieving values 50% higher than even margins when compared minimum covers recommended standards, which highlights benefits use sustainability point view.
