چکیده
Hydrogen-Embrittled Catalyst Surface During hydrogen evolution reaction, diffuses into the catalyst grain boundaries either in atomic or molecular form and severely affects its mechanical properties causing catastrophic brittle failures (hydrogen embrittlement). The H-embrittled surface possesses good oxygen adsorption efficiency when this highly strained electrode is employed for reaction one can anticipate an enhanced catalytic activity, as reported article number 2101209 by Pitchiah Esakki Karthik, Min Jae Ko, Sung Chul Yi, co-workers.

Oxygen evolution reaction electrocatalyzed on a Fenton-treated gold surface.
Hydroxyl radicals arising from the Fenton reagent remove metastable surface gold atoms (low coordinated high-energy surface atoms) on the Au surface, thus precluding the formation of stable oxides. The resultant smooth surface, upon hydroxyl-radical activation, electrocatalyzes oxygen evolution reaction in 0.1 M NaOH at overpotentials lowered by 190 mV @ 10 mA cm(-2).
متن کاملA Study of the Mechanism of the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction on Nickel by Surface Interrogation Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy.
The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) on Ni in alkaline media was investigated by scanning electrochemical microscopy under two operating modes. First, the substrate generation/tip collection mode was employed to extract the "true" cathodic current associated with the HER from the total current in the polarization curve. Compared to metallic Ni, the electrocatalytic activity of the HER is impro...
متن کاملHighly Efficient Electrochemical Hydrogen Evolution Reaction at Insulating Boron Nitride Nanosheet on Inert Gold Substrate
It is demonstrated that electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) proceeds very efficiently at Au electrode, an inert substrate for HER, modified with BNNS, an insulator. This combination has been reported to be an efficient electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction. Higher efficiency is achieved by using the size controlled BNNS (<1 μm) for the modification and the highest efficien...
متن کاملChemical Recognition of Active Oxygen Species on the Surface of Oxygen Evolution Reaction Electrocatalysts
Owing to the transient nature of the intermediates formed during the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) on the surface of transition metal oxides, their nature remains largely elusive by the means of simple techniques. The use of chemical probes is proposed, which, owing to their specific affinities towards different oxygen species, unravel the role played by these species on the OER mechanism. Fo...
متن کاملFacile Hydrogen Evolution Reaction on WO3Nanorods
Tungsten trioxide nanorods have been generated by the thermal decomposition (450 C) of tetrabutylammonium decatungstate. The synthesized tungsten trioxide (WO3) nanorods have been characterized by XRD, Raman, SEM, TEM, HRTEM and cyclic voltammetry. High resolution transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the synthesized WO3 nanorods are crystalline in nature w...
