Energy and exergy analysis of pebble bed thermal energy storage system for diesel engine exhaust

In the present work, a pebble bed thermal energy storage (PBTES) system is developed to utilize waste from engine exhaust. The PBTES integrated with an electric dynamometer coupled stationary Diesel for experimental investigation. performance compared and without integration of system. 60-75% can be stored in fabricated during charging process at various load conditions. It found that nearly 11-15% fuel saved using this considering process. Heat recovery/discharging shows 6-8.5% primary saved. combined (engine+PBTES) efficiency varies 11-38% different highest exergy obtained as 3.32% when 3 kW applied. easily used domestic or industrial use space heating hot fluid requirements.
