چکیده
Powering thermal desalination technologies by renewable energy is believed to be a viable solution overcome the worldwide freshwater scarcity problem without causing more damage environment. In this paper, multi-effect distillation system (MED) with mechanical vapor compression powered generated electrical power of photovoltaic/thermal collectors and assisted by-product generated. The sized according needed designed for small-scale application weather conditions Alexandria, Egypt. Excess electricity injected into grid hot water storage tank used as back-up compensate low fluctuating radiation. Results show that, at saturation temperature MED’s heating steam 55 °C, production 11.1 m3/day in 10 hours operation, specific consumption 9.72 kWh/m3, area 317.04 m2s/kg, performance ratios unit 3.33 6.97 overall system. However, T = 65 °C system’s totally absorbed compressor, decreases.

متن کاملHybrid Photovoltaic-Thermal Collectors: A Review
Solar energy can be converted directly into electric and thermal energy through photovoltaic cells and thermal collectors, respectively. However this conversion, in particular the photovoltaic, has a reduced efficiency. A solution proposed to increase this efficiency is with the hybrid solar structure, which consists in the junction of the photovoltaic panel and the thermal collector in a singl...
متن کاملPerformance analysis of photovoltaic thermal (PVT) water collectors
The electrical and thermal performances of photovoltaic thermal (PVT) water collectors were determined under 500–800 W/m solar radiation levels. At each solar radiation level, mass flow rates ranging from 0.011 kg/s to 0.041 kg/s were introduced. The PVT collectors were tested with respect to PV efficiency, thermal efficiency, and a combination of both (PVT efficiency). The results show that th...
