Energetic boundary element method for accurate solution of damped waves hard scattering problems

Abstract The paper deals with the numerical solution of 2D wave propagation exterior problems including viscous and material damping coefficients equipped by Neumann boundary condition, hence modeling hard scattering damped waves. differential problem, which includes, besides diffusion, advection reaction terms, is written as a space–time integral equation (BIE) whose kernel given hypersingular fundamental waves operator. resulting BIE solved modified Energetic Boundary Element Method, where suitable treatment introduced for evaluation discretization linear system matrix entries represented quadruple integrals in space variables. A wide variety results, obtained varying both parameters, presented shows accuracy stability proposed technique, confirming what was theoretically proved simpler undamped case. Post-processing phase also taken into account, giving approximate problem involving around disconnected obstacles bounded domains.
