چکیده
Atherosclerosis is a chronic immunomodulated disease that affects multiple vascular beds and results in significant worldwide burden. Conventional imaging modalities focus on the morphological features of atherosclerotic such as degree stenosis caused by lesion. Modern CT, MR positron emission tomography scanners have seen improvements rapidity image acquisition spatial resolution. This has increased scope for clinical application these modalities. Multimodality can improve cardiovascular risk prediction informing constituency metabolic processes within vessel wall. Specific be targeted using novel biological tracers smart contrast agents. These approaches potential to inform clinicians state plaque. review will provide an overview current techniques atherosclerosis how various information enhances depiction basic morphology.

Atherosclerosis is characterized by the thickening of the arterial wall to form an atherosclerotic plaque, a process in which cholesterol deposition, inflammation, extracellular-matrix formation and thrombosis have important roles{Sanz, 2008 #1}. Symptoms occur late in the course of disease and are usually caused by the narrowing of the lumen of the artery, which can happen gradually (as a resu...
