Emerging roles of proximal tubular endocytosis in renal fibrosis

نویسندگان

چکیده

Endocytosis is a crucial component of many pathological conditions. The proximal tubules are responsible for reabsorbing the majority filtered water and glucose, as well all proteins through glomerular barrier via endocytosis, indicating an essential role in kidney diseases. Genetic mutations or acquired insults could affect tubule endocytosis processes, by disturbing overstressing endolysosomal system subsequently activating different pathways, orchestrating renal fibrosis. This paper will review recent studies on tubular affected other diseases factors. plays vital development fibrosis, fibrosis also, turn, endocytosis.

Molecular Mechanisms of Receptor-Mediated Endocytosis in the Renal Proximal Tubular Epithelium

Receptor-mediated endocytosis is a pivotal function of renal proximal tubule epithelial cells (PTECs) to reabsorb and metabolize substantial amounts of proteins and other substances in glomerular filtrates. The function accounts for the conservation of nutrients, including carrier-bound vitamins and trace elements, filtered by glomeruli. Impairment of the process results in a loss of such subst...

mTOR Regulates Endocytosis and Nutrient Transport in Proximal Tubular Cells.

Renal proximal tubular cells constantly recycle nutrients to ensure minimal loss of vital substrates into the urine. Although most of the transport mechanisms have been discovered at the molecular level, little is known about the factors regulating these processes. Here, we show that mTORC1 and mTORC2 specifically and synergistically regulate PTC endocytosis and transport processes. Using a con...

Caveolar endocytosis is critical for BK virus infection of human renal proximal tubular epithelial cells.

In recent years, BK virus (BKV) nephritis after renal transplantation has become a severe problem. The exact mechanisms of BKV cell entry and subsequent intracellular trafficking remain unknown. Since human renal proximal tubular epithelial cells (HRPTEC) represent a main natural target of BKV nephritis, analysis of BKV infection of HRPTEC is necessary to obtain additional insights into BKV bio...

Attenuation of interstitial fibrosis and tubular apoptosis in db/db transgenic mice overexpressing catalase in renal proximal tubular cells.

OBJECTIVE The present study investigated the relationships between reactive oxygen species (ROS), interstitial fibrosis, and renal proximal tubular cell (RPTC) apoptosis in type 2 diabetic db/db mice and in db/db transgenic (Tg) mice overexpressing rat catalase (rCAT) in their RPTCs (db/db rCAT-Tg). RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Blood pressure, blood glucose, and albuminuria were monitored for ...

Reactive Oxygen Species Modulation of Na/K-ATPase Regulates Fibrosis and Renal Proximal Tubular Sodium Handling

The Na/K-ATPase is the primary force regulating renal sodium handling and plays a key role in both ion homeostasis and blood pressure regulation. Recently, cardiotonic steroids (CTS)-mediated Na/K-ATPase signaling has been shown to regulate fibrosis, renal proximal tubule (RPT) sodium reabsorption, and experimental Dahl salt-sensitive hypertension in response to a high-salt diet. Reactive oxyge...
