چکیده

Background: There is an emerging trend of pseudomonas infections in immune-compromised patients, specifically hospital settings. The flagship member this family Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which a major infectious agent. This study assessed the distribution and susceptibility patterns species isolated from various specimens as part surveillance program, order to devise antibiograms. Aim: To determine frequency & antimicrobial sensitivities tertiary care Lahore. Study design: Retrospective, descriptive, cross sectional Place duration study: Conducted Lahore, January 2021 2022. Methods: Thirty two isolates different clinical were microbiology section during period 13 months. MacConkey blood agar utilized for culturing organisms. Gram staining, oxidase, catalase testwere phenotypic characterization. Antibiotic testing against anti-pseudomonal drugs was performed according Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines (CLSI) 2021. Results: inference drawn at end that, out thirty received pus most common specimen (46.8%), followed by 18.75% urine specimens. 62.5% obtained male patients. affected age group 40-60 years, 1-20 years. sensitive options turned be Imipenem (65.6%) Pipericillintazobactam (62.5%), 59.3% sensitivity Amikacin. least Aztreonam (15.6%) Ticarcillin clavulanic acid (25%). In 18% cultures, fosfomycin 83.3%, whereas nitrofurantoin 50% sensitive. Conclusions: steadily rising resistance againstavailable antibiotics optionsnecessitates their use inlife-threatening acquiredinfections. Keywords: Peudomonas, Flouroquinolones, Carbapenem

Antimicrobial Susceptibility Pattern of Clinical Isolates of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa in a Pediatric Hospital

Background and Objective: Pseudomonas aeruginosa has become a frequent cause of nosocomial infections, particularly in intensive care units (ICUs). Many reports have documented high rates of resistance in this species to commonly-used broad-spectrum antibiotics. The aim of this study was to assess the in vitro activity of some a...

Genetic fingerprinting and antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of Pseudomonas aeruginosa hospital isolates in Malaysia.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the third most common pathogen causing nosocomial infections. The objective of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial resistance profiles and genetic diversity of hospital isolates of P. aeruginosa and to investigate the presence of several resistance genes and integrons. METHODS In this retrospective study, 48 clinical isolates of P. ...
