Emerging Contaminants: Analysis, Aquatic Compartments and Water Pollution

چکیده
Over the past two decades, presence of so-called emerging contaminants in various environmental compartments around world, such as water, sediments, soils and atmosphere, a wide variety consumer products has become major concern for society, public health authorities, industry (namely food water sector) agricultural sector. Some these substances are endocrine disruptors others proven carcinogens mutagens. In particular, there is growing about resources. The list particularly long: pesticides, pharmaceuticals, drugs abuse (including licit illicit drugs), cosmetics, personal care products, surfactants, cleaning industrial formulations chemicals, additives, packaging, metalloids, rare earth elements, nanomaterials, microplastics pathogens. Most found not only domestic wastewater discharges, but also surface ground consequently drinking sources. Therefore, entering aquatic compartment may cause known, unknown or suspected adverse effects on ecosystems and/or human health. Many molecules have been classified recent years priority hazardous substances, thus, world municipal treatment plants concerned by release virtue increasingly strict regulations. However, existing conventional were designed eliminating new contaminants. addition, most yet routinely monitored either discharges environment. From an academic point view, great interest to scientific community receive special attention. The areas research their impact environment, sources, analysis fate well remediation. Indeed, behavior environment all living organisms remain largely unknown. difficult remove processes. Thus, intense activity topics. The objective this chapter present state knowledge After general considerations contaminants, first part focused chromatographic methods coupled mass spectrometry detection, detection sediment. alkylphenols, elements nanoparticles then discussed. Finally, examples contamination described from China Portugal, Mexico, Colombia Brazil, presented.

Water analysis: emerging contaminants and current issues.
This biennial review covers developments in water analysis over the period of 2003-2004. A few significant references that appeared between January and February 2005 are also included. Analytical Chemistry’s current policy is to limit reviews to include 100-200 significant references and to mainly focus on new trends. As a result, as was done in the previous 2003 water analysis review (1), this...
متن کاملEmerging chemical contaminants in water and wastewater.
Recent advances in environmental analytical chemistry have resulted in an explosion of knowledge regarding the presence of previously undetectable chemical contaminants in water and wastewater. Many of these contaminants are anthropogenic, resulting from commercial products from human society and subsequently dispersed throughout the aquatic environment, passing between wastewater effluents, na...

Emerging contaminant in drinking water has created concerns among public, water supplier and government. Pharmaceutical in water and food even in low concentration have shown potential risks to human. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen are among a set of the most prescribed drugs in the world. In this study raw water and treated drinking water from Latyan drinking water treatment facilities were analy...
متن کاملAnalysis and removal of emerging contaminants in wastewater and drinking water
The occurrence of trace organic contaminants in wastewaters, their behaviour during wastewater treatment and drinking water production are the key issues in relation to the reuse of water resources. Elimination of different classes of emerging contaminants, such as surfactant degradates, pharmaceuticals and polar pesticides in wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) was found to be rather low and co...
