Supplementary data at JAC Online). An additional promoter was predicted by Softberry BPROM promoter prediction and consisted of the 235 box of IS18 and a 210 box separated by 13 bp (Figure S1, available as Supplementary data at JAC Online). 10 Interestingly , the TTCAAT 235 box identical to that from Baz (bla OXA-228) was adjacent to the left inverted repeat. OXA-228-like expression in isolate ...
متن کاملCommonality among fluoroquinolone-resistant sequence type ST131 extraintestinal Escherichia coli isolates from humans and companion animals in Australia.
Escherichia coli sequence type 131 (ST131), an emergent multidrug-resistant extraintestinal pathogen, has spread epidemically among humans and was recently isolated from companion animals. To assess for human-companion animal commonality among ST131 isolates, 214 fluoroquinolone-resistant extraintestinal E. coli isolates (205 from humans, 9 from companion animals) from diagnostic laboratories i...

clone over years, even though repeated introductions of mecC-positive isolates cannot be excluded. Finally, the description of divergent but closely related spa types and PFGE patterns among the mecC-positive isolates potentially reflects local microevolution or the circulation of different subclones. No epidemiological link was evidenced between the three colonized farms, neither at the animal...
متن کاملIntercontinental emergence of Escherichia coli clone O25:H4-ST131 producing CTX-M-15.
BACKGROUND Concomitant with the recent emergence of CTX-M-type extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs), Escherichia coli has become the enterobacterial species most affected by ESBLs. Multiple locales are encountering CTX-M-positive E. coli, including specifically CTX-M-15. To gain insights into the mechanism underlying this phenomenon, we assessed clonality and diversity of virulence profile...
متن کاملComplete Genome Sequence of the Epidemic and Highly Virulent CTX-M-15-Producing H30-Rx Subclone of Escherichia coli ST131
We report the complete genome sequence, including five complete plasmid sequences, of Escherichia coli ST131 isolate JJ1886. The isolate was obtained in 2007 in the United States from a patient with fatal urosepsis and belongs to the virulent, CTX-M-15-producing H30-Rx sublineage.
