Elucidation of corrosion inhibition property of compounds isolated from Butanolic Date Palm Leaves extract for low carbon steel in 15% HCl solution: Experimental and theoretical approaches

The present work reports on the corrosion inhibition property of compounds isolated from butanolic extract Date Palm leaves for low carbon steel in 15% HCl solution. Six were and purified using a combination column chromatography, thin layer Prep HPLC-MS system. characterized 1H NMR, 13C GC–MS. Their identity was revealed to be mixture fatty alkanes, oleanolic acid (OA), vanillyl alcohol (VA), ?-Sitosterol-3-O-?-D-glucoside (?-SSG), sucrose sugar, carotenoid lutein. As result amount different isolates obtained, only three out six namely ?-SSG, OA, VA tested anticorrosion HCl. performed weight loss electrochemical techniques. Surface morphology analysis corroded absence presence undertaken SEM/EDAX 3D optical profilometer. Also, DFT calculations order indicate reactivities bonding sites molecules as well Monte Carlos simulations (MCS) determine energy interaction between inhibitors surface. Results obtained show that values efficiency (IE) at concentration (35 ppm) studied follow trend: ?-SSG (46.57%) > VAisolated (39.30%) VAcommercial (36.81%) OA (31.94%) 25 °C. It is also noted that, IE increased with increase but decreased temperature. For VA, However, commercial slightly rise experimental results are agreement theoretical prediction. In both predicted results, best inhibitor.
