Eliciting Looked After Children’s Views and Relationships Through Card-based Participatory Research Methods

This brief report discusses the usefulness of “ranking and ratings” cards in context participatory research with looked-after children. Within this research, we draw upon notions participation as outlined UNCRC. We undertook to elicit voices looked after children, aged 6 11 years, who were involved a school-based creative mentoring intervention. The researchers created card based popular game “Top Trumps” create familiarity facilitate an examination mentor-mentee relationships through focused conversations. found that children’s interactions stimulated conversations which open detailed. was particular value for conducting marginalized children may not otherwise necessarily engage unfamiliar adult.
