Repositioning Dynamics and Pricing Strategy
We measure the revenue and cost implications to supermarkets of changing their price positioning strategy in oligopolistic downstream retail markets. Our estimates have implications for long-run market structure in the supermarket industry, and for measuring the sources of price rigidity in the economy. We exploit a unique dataset containing the price-format decisions of all supermarkets in the...
متن کاملOn selection dynamics for competitive interactions.
In this paper, we are interested in an integro-differential model that describe the evolution of a population structured with respect to a continuous trait. Under some assumption, we are able to find an entropy for the system, and show that some steady solutions are globally stable. The stability conditions we find are coherent with those of Adaptive Dynamics.
متن کاملStrategy and Competitive Advantage
Winning business strategies are grounded in sustainable competitive advantage. A company has competitive advantage whenever it has an edge over rivals in securing customers and defending against competitive forces. There are many sources of competitive advantage: making the highest-quality product, providing superior customer service, achieving lower costs than rivals, having a more convenient ...
متن کاملEntropy Satisfying Schemes for Computing Selection Dynamics in Competitive Interactions
Abstract. In this paper, we present entropy satisfying schemes for solving an integro-differential equation that describes the evolution of a population structured with respect to a continuous trait. In [P.-E. Jabin and G. Raoul, J. Math. Biol., 63 (2011), pp. 493–517] solutions are shown to converge toward the so-called evolutionary stable distribution (ESD) as time becomes large, using the re...
متن کاملThe Interactions of Organizational and Competitive Influences on Strategy and Performance
Despite much debate in the strategy literatures, there is little consensus as to whether organizational capabilities or market competition are more important in shaping firms’ actions and performance. We suspect that simply comparing firm-level and industry-level influences will continue to prove fruitless for two reasons. In the first place, both organization and competition are clearly import...
