Abstract The development of new materials for air filtration and particulate matter (PM) pollution is critical to solving global environmental issues that threaten human health accelerate the greenhouse effect. In this study, a novel electrospun polystyrene-SiO 2 nanoparticle (PS-SNP) fibrous membrane was explored by single-step strategy obtain composite multi-layered filter masks. addition, performance PM evaluated. effects SiO on composition, morphology, mechanical property, surface wetting PS-SNP membranes were studied. Allowing be incorporated into PS polymer endowed with promising superhydrophobicity demonstrated excellent properties. As-prepared possess significantly better efficiency than pure membrane. Furthermore, three-layered media (viscose/PS-SNP/polyethylene terephthalate) used in study has considerable performances compared commercial Since features such as high permeability, we anticipate it have huge potential application systems, including cleanroom, respirator, protective clothing.
