چکیده

This paper investigates the electroosmotic micromixing of non-Newtonian fluid in a microchannel with wall-mounted obstacles and surface potential heterogeneity on obstacle surface. In numerical simulation, full model consisting Navier–Stokes equations Poisson–Nernst–Plank are solved for field, ion transport, electric power law is used to characterize rheological behavior aqueous solution. The mixing performance investigated under different parameters, such as double layer thickness, flow index, zeta potential, dimension. Due at surface, vortical formed near which can significantly improve efficiency. results show that, efficiency be improved by increasing height, EDL thickness.

Time-periodic Electroosmotic Flow of Non-newtonian Fluids in Microchannels

The alternating current electroosmotic flow of a non-Newtonian power-law fluid is studied in a circular microchannel. A numerical method is employed to solve the non-linear Poisson-Boltzmann and the momentum equations. The main parameters which affect the flow field are the flow behavior index, the dimensionless zeta potential and the dimensionless frequency. At very low dimensionless frequenci...

Electroosmotic capillary flow with nonuniform zeta potential

The present work is an analytical and experimental study of electroosmotic flow (EOF) in cylindrical capillaries with nonuniform wall surface charge (zeta-potential) distributions. In particular, this study investigates perturbations of electroosmotic flow in open capillaries that are due to induced pressure gradients resulting from axial variations in the wall zeta-potential. The experimental ...

Electroosmotic flows with random zeta potential.

The hydrodynamic problem of electroosmotic flow in a cylindrical capillary with random zeta potential is solved in the limit of small Deybe length and low Reynolds number. Averages are defined over multiple experiments and the mean axial velocity is found to be a plug flow. The variance of the velocity exhibits parabolic-like variation across the capillary. Average concentrations of samples tra...

Rapid mixing of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids in a three-dimensional micro-mixer using non-uniform magnetic field

The mixing of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids in a magnetic micro-mixer was studied numerically using  ferrofluid. The mixing process was performed in a three-dimensional steady-state micro-mixer. A magnetic source was mounted at the entrance of the micro-channel to oscillate the magnetic particles. The effects of electric current, inlet velocity, size of magnetic particles, and non-Newtonia...

Electroviscous effect on fluid drag in a microchannel with large zeta potential

The electroviscous effect has been widely studied to investigate the effect of surface charge-induced electric double layers (EDL) on the pressure-driven flow in a micro/nano channel. EDL has been reported to reduce the velocity of fluid flow and increase the fluid drag. Nevertheless, the study on the combined effect of EDL with large zeta potential up to several hundred millivolts and surface ...
