چکیده

Miniaturization is one of the main requirements in design portable devices that allow in-field analysis. This especially interesting environmental monitoring, where time sample-to-result process could be decreased considerably by approaching analytical platforms to sampling point. We employed traditional mass-produced and low-cost elements (micropipette tips pins) an out-of-box application generate innovative cost-effective platform for purposes. have designed simple easy-to-use electrochemical cells inside polypropylene micropipette with three stainless-steel pins acting as working, reference counter electrodes a potentiostatic system. The pin working electrode was previously coated carbon ink, meanwhile rest were used unmodified. In this way, in-the-tip measurements done directly using low volumes (μL) sample. showed good reproducibility, relative standard deviation 7% (n = 5) five different tip-based complete cells. As proof-of-concept, its utility has been probed determination anionic surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulphate, SDS) water through interaction methylene blue (MB). Two alternatives presented based on the: 1) increase current intensity cathodic peak MB due presence SDS; 2) remaining aqueous phase after extraction pair SDS-MB organic medium.

Continuous Flow Methylene Blue Active Substances Method for the Determination of Anionic Surfactants in River Water and Biodegradation Test Samples

Anionic surfactants are commonly determined with the use of the methylene blue active substances (MBAS) standard method, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Therefore, new methods for determination of anionic surfactants are needed. In this study, the standard MBAS method for determination of anionic surfactants was modified and adjusted to work in a continuous flow system combined wit...

An assay evaluation of the methylene blue method for the detection of anionic surfactants in urine.

Adding detergent to urine intended for drug testing is one of many ways to adulterate the specimen. This modified methylene blue procedure allows the detection and quantitation of anionic surfactants in urine. One-hundred urine specimens that exhibited normal foaming when shaken gave anionic surfactant values lower than 36 microg/mL with a mean of 8.73 microg/mL. Most of the suspected adulterat...

Optimization of the Methylene Blue Assay for Anionic Surfactants Added to Estuarine and Marine Water

The existing rapid method for the determination of anionic surfactants in aqueous solutions relies on the association of the cationic methylene blue dye with the anionic surfactant to form an electroneutral complex that is subsequently extracted into chloroform and determined spectrophotometrically. This methylene blue active substance (MBAS) assay suffers from salt interference in estuarine an...
