Electro-oxidation of tetracycline in methanol media on DSA®-Cl2

The electro-oxidation of tetracycline (TeC) in methanol medium containing chloride or sulfate ions was evaluated using a DSA®-Cl2 flow reactor and compared with BDD. results show that after 30 min electrolysis no TeC is detected by liquid chromatography when used as supporting electrolyte. On the other hand, 90 BDD anode only 61% removed from solutions chloride, but presence removal reaches 94%. This evidences oxidizing species generated during electrochemical oxidation control process mechanism degradation TeC. Besides that, it possible to infer small amount might convert formaldehyde formic acid, although they were not according nil changes FTIR spectra HPLC chromatograms recorded.
