چکیده
The indicator of specific (per capita) electricity consumption (SEC) is stabilising in developed countries and increasing developing economies. At least since the mid-2000s, difference between two groups terms available power has been decreasing. Electricity consumption and economic growth in India
This paper tries to examine the Granger causality between electricity consumption per capita and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita for India using annual data covering the period 1950–51 to 1996–97. Phillips–Perron tests reveal that both the series, after logarithmic transformation, are non-stationary and individually integrated of order one. This study finds the absence of long-run equil...
متن کاملElectricity Consumption and Economic Growth in Emerging Economies
Emerging economies have grown much faster than the advanced countries during the past decades. This study investigates the relationship between economic growth and electricity consumption in the emerging economies during the period 1970-2011 by using Pedroni, Kao and Johansen co-integration tests and Granger causality tests. We found that electricity consumption had a positive impact on the eco...

The causality between energy consumption and economic growth has been an important issue in the economic literature. This paper studies the causal relationship between electricity consumption and economic growth in Mexico for the period of 1971-2011. In so doing, unit root and causality tests are applied. The results show that energy consumption and economic growth series are stationary and the...

The present article uses the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) bounds testing procedure to identify the long run equilibrium relationship between electricity consumption and economic growth. TodaYamamoto andWald-test causality tests have identified the direction of the causal relationship between these two variables in the case of Pakistan in the period between 1971 and 2008. Ng-Perron and ...
