Electrical and Mechanical Properties of Polymer Composite through the Use of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotube and Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube

To manufacture composites with required properties, it is extremely important to select an appropriate filler. Carbon-based nano materials such as carbon black, graphene and nanotube (CNT) have been extensively investigated reinforcing conducting fillers. Because of their high aspect ratio coupled superior physical 1-dimensional CNTs are ideal filler impart electrical conductivity insulating polymers, while enhancing mechanical strength. In this study, we the piezo-resistive properties consisting two types CNT classified multi-walled (MWNT) or single-walled (SWNT) depending on number walls. Since MWNT SWNT different specific surface area ratio, can affect composite’s performance. more effectively evaluate effect MWNTs SWNTs in composites, used thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) a matrix, which stretchable elastomer. Morphological mechanical/electrical characterizations were conducted determine differences composites. addition, dynamic strain sensing tests each type compare sensitivity sensor.
