چکیده
Abstract Sigmoid volvulus is a frequent cause of intestinal obstruction. Its management has evolved with the use laparoscopic surgery, achieving an elective sigmoid resection anastomosis after flexible endoscopic detorsion. A female patient was admitted to emergency room abdominal pain, distention, and constipation. The computed tomography showed whirled mesentery in addition dilated loops, coffee bean sign. successfully underwent detorsion scheduled for colectomy rectal superior artery preservation primary anastomosis. During resection, related better prognostic, less bleeding, anastomotic leakage, hospital stay. Currently, there are few reports patients volvulus.

Elective surgery after successful endoscopic decompression of sigmoid volvulus may be considered.
INTRODUCTION Volvulus is an axial twist of any part of the gastrointestinal tract along its mesentery. If it goes unattended, it will cause bowel obstruction and bowel ischaemia with gangrene and perforation. The primary treatment is endoscopic desufflation, but the place for elective surgery is controversial. Volvulus is a rare condition in Western Europe and North America that most often affe...

section was performed by myself and the volvulus again reduced. To prevent a recurrence of the twisting, the colon was stitched to the abdominal parieties. It was greatly liypertrophied and harboured a mass of constipated feces which probably caused the volvulus. The patient gave a history of long continued obstinate constipation. He returned again in the following March when I performed abdomi...
متن کاملDetermination of patients requiring elective surgery following successful endoscopic detorsion in sigmoid volvulus
Sigmoid volvulus (SV) is an unusual type of colonic obstruction, in which the sigmoid colon wraps around itself. As a rule, SV is decompressed via endoscopy in uncomplicated cases, while surgery is required in complicated cases. However, the recurrence rate following endoscopic detorsion is relatively high, with a relatively high mortality rate. Consequently, as a prophylactic procedure to prev...
متن کاملNew ports placement in laparoscopic central lymph nodes dissection with left colic artery preservation for sigmoid colon and rectal cancer.
BACKGROUND Lymph nodes (LNs) dissection around inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) with left colic artery (LCA) preservation is difficult due to the anatomical feature of IMA. The aim of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of new ports placement inserted from a suprapubic region in laparoscopic LNs dissection around IMA with LCA preservation for sigmoid colon and ractal cancer. METHODS Twen...

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of laparoscopic-assisted sigmoid colectomy for diverticulitis and to assess its postoperative advantages. METHODS From 1999 to 2001, 5 patients were selectively operated on with a laparoscopic-assisted procedure for uncomplicated sigmoid diverticulitis. In the preceding period (September 1997 through December 1998),...
