Efficient monitoring of phenology in chestnuts

چکیده

Chestnuts (Castanea spp.) are ecologically and economically important forest fruit trees. They cultivated for their nutritious nuts. To select varieties to be in chestnut orchards, phenology needs considered. In this work, we adapt the international BBCH system chestnuts by building on an existing phenological scale used some European countries these species. The proposed uses eight of ten principal growth stages trees secondary that specific We tested it monitoring during three growing seasons, illustrating its suitability high-throughput phenotyping studies. Overall, approach used, despite inherent limitations, is straightforward, accessible flexible, allowing particularly precise description complex flowering

Short communication Monitoring vegetation phenology using MODIS

Accurate measurements of regional to global scale vegetation dynamics (phenology) are required to improve models and understanding of inter-annual variability in terrestrial ecosystem carbon exchange and climate–biosphere interactions. Since the mid-1980s, satellite data have been used to study these processes. In this paper, a new methodology to monitor global vegetation phenology from time se...

Growing Chinese Water Chestnuts in Hawaii

BACKGROUND AND INTRODUCTION The Chinese water chestnut, Eleocharis dulcis ((Burm. f.) Henschel), is a member of the sedge family (Cyperaceae). It is a true aquatic that can only grow in water. Corncob is an agriculture waste found to consist of 38.9% cellulose and 43.4% hemicellulose on dry solid (w/w %) basis and thus considered a potential source for fermentable sugars. These sugars can potentially be extracted through combined chemical pretreatment and enzymatic saccharification. The present study is aimed to optimized the pretreatment process by using variety of alkali and acids ...

Classification of chestnuts with experiments on feature selection and noise

In this paper we solve the problem of classifying chestnut plants according to their place of origin; we compare the results obtained by a multi-layer perceptron with C4.5 decision tree and random forest. We will determine which features are meaningful for the classification, the achievable classification accuracy of these three classifiers families with the available features and how much the ...
