Efficient Immersive Video Compression using Screen Content Coding

The paper deals with efficient compression of immersive video representations for the synthesis relatedto virtual viewports, i.e., to selected viewer positions and directions watching. Thegoal is obtain possibly high quality obtained from compressed immersivevideo acquired multiple omnidirectional planar (perspective) cameras, or computer animation. Inthe paper, we describe a solution based on HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) recentlyproposed MPEG Test Model Immersive Video. idea use standard-compliant Screen Content Codingtools that were proposed other applications have never been used compression. Theexperimental results standard test sequences are reported normalized experimental conditionsdefined by MPEG. In it demonstrated yields up 20% bitrate reductionfor constant video.
