Efficient and cost-effective ORR electrocatalysts based on low content transition metals highly dispersed on C3N4/super-activated carbon composites

Oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is one of the most important electrochemical reactions for fuel cells. However, commercial Pt-based catalysts used have limitations such as their deactivation by carbon monoxide and Pt scarcity. In present work, small highly-dispersed copper iron clusters were anchored onto composite supports based on nitride (C3N4) nanostructures a highly porous material. Catalysts with moderate content showed an interesting catalytic behaviour because combination metallic active sites availability micropores, which play role in ORR. The presence either Fe or Cu synthesis affected structure resulting materials, well electrocatalytic activity. Copper-based materials superior activity, supported information obtained from evaluation system using DFT computational calculations.
