چکیده

Abstract Background Methyl‐aminolevulinate‐based photodynamic therapy (MAL‐PDT) has been successfully used in early‐stage mycosis fungoides (MF) lesions. However, the long‐term outcome of initially responding lesions not systematically investigated to date. To address this issue, we hereby report a large series MF treated with MAL‐PDT and followed up for 1 year after initial treatment. Objectives The objective study was retrospectively evaluate short‐ middle‐term clinical results on (patches plaques) identify characteristics possibly predictive effectiveness. Methods Data from all (plaques patches) between 2010 2017 tertiary referral centre were collected. Primary endpoints response rated as complete (CR) or partial (PR), rate relapse further evaluated last PDT session. Secondary addressed tolerance relevancy predefined parameters CR achievement. Results A total 62 30 patients (21 Ia, nine Ib) analysed. At 6‐week evaluation, overall (RR) 87.25% (55% 32.25% PR) mean 2.7 sessions per lesion. Twenty‐five percent relapsed locally within year. Transient, although significant, pain occurred at least once 30% patients. In univariate analysis, location sun‐protected areas only parameter statistically related CR, result confirmed multivariate analysis. Conclusions Overall, these data confirm interest use even deep (folliculotropic) higher efficiency areas. Furthermore, demonstrates first time that is often sustained over time. Accordingly, should be considered management MF, especially oligolesional forms residual refractory systemic

Photodynamic therapy in mycosis fungoides.

Photodynamic therapy involves the topical application of a photosensitizer to a lesion, which is then subsequently exposed to a light source. It is mainly used in the nonsurgical treatment of nonmelanoma skin cancer, in which it achieves good response and an excellent cosmetic result. In the last 10 years, photodynamic therapy has also been used with some success in the treatment of plaque-stag...

Photodynamic therapy with methyl-aminolaevulinic acid for mycosis fungoides.

Mycosis fungoides is the most common type of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. There are a wide range of treatments for early-stage and advanced-stage mycosis fungoides. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged as a new treatment modality due to its safety and efficacy. The aim of this study was to investigate the safety and efficacy of PDT with methyl-aminolaevulinic acid (MAL) for the treatment of myc...

Unilesional mycosis fungoides treated with photodynamic therapy. A case report.

BACKGROUND Mycosis fungoides, or cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), is one of the most common skin lymphomas, with a chronic and lethal course. It is characterized by the expansion of CD4+ and CDw29+ immunophenotype T-cell clones lacking normal antigens. These altered T-lymphocytes are predominantly located in the skin, but some of them retain their ability to migrate and exit the skin through t...

Photodynamic Therapy with the Silicon Phthalocyanine Pc 4 Induces Apoptosis in Mycosis Fungoides and Sezary Syndrome

Our current focus on the effects of Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) using silicon phthalocyanine Pc 4 photosensitizer on malignant T lymphocytes arose due to preclinical observations that Jurkat cells, common surrogate for human T cell lymphoma, were more sensitive to Pc 4-PDT-induced killing than epidermoid carcinoma A431 cells. Mycosis fungoides (MF) as well as Sezary syndrome (SS) are variants of...
